Kanazawa’s biggest and most famous annual festival,
the Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival is a spectacular celebration of samurai history, traditional culture, and local pride.
The festival commemorates the historic entrance of Lord Maeda Toshiie into Kanazawa Castle in 1583 — the moment that marked the beginning of the prosperous Kaga Domain, once known as the “Million Koku” domain.
Held over three days every June, the city comes alive with parades, traditional performances, taiko drums, dances, tea ceremonies, and cultural events throughout Kanazawa.
The highlight of the festival is the famous Hyakumangoku Parade, a large historical procession featuring samurai warriors, traditional costumes, horses, dancers, and performers marching through the city toward Kanazawa Castle. Every year, famous Japanese actors play the roles of Lord Maeda Toshiie and Lady Matsu.
In 2026, actor Shunsuke Daito will play Maeda Toshiie, and actress/performer Yuuka Sugai will play Lady Matsu.

金沢最大級のイベントとして知られる、初夏の一大祭り。
金沢百万石まつりは、加賀藩祖・前田利家公が1583年に金沢城へ入城し、加賀百万石の礎を築いた偉業を記念して開催される歴史文化イベントです。
毎年6月に3日間にわたって開催され、
金沢の街全体が、武士文化・伝統芸能・祭りの熱気に包まれます。
最大の見どころは「百万石行列」。
甲冑姿の武者、踊り手、獅子舞、加賀とび、太鼓隊などが金沢市内を練り歩く、豪華絢爛な時代行列です。
毎年、有名俳優が前田利家公役・お松の方役を務めることでも知られており、
2026年は俳優の大東駿介さんと、菅井友香さんが出演予定です。
